Barbara, Hope, Lorinda, Jen, Kim & Vera with Roman on the set for "Dynomite"

Roman Coppola...

Having worked with Roman Coppola at the grand opening of the Downtown Standard Hotel (which also premiered his movie "CQ"), Velvet Hammer's director Michelle Carr was asked to supply six girls for Ima Robot's "Dynomite" video. In June of 2003, the girls spent twelve hours in Universal's Stage 27, running through an improvised routine that amounted to less than thirty seconds. It was all worth it when bassist Justin Meldal-Johnson asked drummer Joey Waronker if he'd noticed their average working day involved six women in pink corsets and wigs hiding behind plastic trees as they played on fake rocks and toad stools.
